Who can use this?
Eligibility varies by property. Generally, household income must be at or below 50-80% of the area Median Family Income (set by HUD). Some properties are restricted to residents age 62+ or individuals with disabilities. Avesta serves residents across Maine and New Hampshire.

Avesta Housing is the largest nonprofit affordable housing provider in Northern New England, founded in 1972. They own and manage more than 100 properties comprising over 3,200 apartments, providing safe and affordable homes for approximately 4,700 residents across Maine and New Hampshire.

What to expect
Walk-in applicants are accepted Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (8:30 AM - 4:30 PM). Tuesday and Thursday require an appointment — call (207) 553-7777. You'll complete a Housing Eligibility Questionnaire, then receive a list of properties you qualify for. You select communities to apply to and are placed on wait list(s).
What to bring
For initial visit, just come in and complete the questionnaire. At full application stage: Social Security cards and birth certificates for all household members.
