Who can use this?
Available to pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum individuals, infants, and children up to age 5 with household income at or below 185% of the federal poverty guidelines. Automatically eligible if you receive MaineCare, SNAP, or TANF benefits. Includes foster and adopted children.

The Maine Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program is a federally funded supplemental nutrition program that provides free healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare and community services. WIC serves pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum individuals, infants, and children up to age 5. The program operates through local agencies in every Maine county including offices in Portland, Lewiston, Bangor, Augusta, Biddeford, and Ellsworth.

What to expect
Call 1-800-470-3769 to find your nearest WIC office and schedule your first appointment. The initial visit takes about an hour and includes eligibility screening, health measurements, and nutrition assessment. You'll receive a WIC card to purchase approved foods at participating stores.
What to bring
Proof of identity, proof of Maine residency, proof of income (or proof of SNAP/MaineCare/TANF enrollment), and immunization records for children.
