Open to anyone experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or financial hardship. No identification or documentation required. Services are barrier-free.

About this resource

Preble Street Resource Center is the hub of services for people experiencing homelessness in Portland. The center provides barrier-free services including a clothing closet with free seasonal clothing and household items, a soup kitchen serving meals 365 days a year, day shelter, case management, and access to healthcare. The clothing closet is available Monday and Friday afternoons. For clothing and household item donations, Preble Street now partners with Maine Needs at 2385 Congress Street.

What to expect

Walk in during open hours. No appointment needed. For the clothing closet, call 207-775-0026 to get on the list and let staff know what items you need. The clothing closet is available Monday and Friday afternoons. Meals are served daily. Staff can connect you with case management and other services.
